Steve Tsui earned his bachelor’s degree in History from Taiwan’s top university, National Taiwan University (NTU). Although he majored in History, he is passionate about education and teaching languages thus chose to work as a Mandarin teacher overseas.
He is an experienced Mandarin teacher and handles different levels, from native language to foreign language students, in Primary through Secondary School. Prior to joining NAIS Manila he was the Head of Mandarin at an international school in Myanmar and helped establish their Mandarin Programme and Curriculum. Steve is highly regarded in his creative teaching strategies and designing of teaching materials, formative, and summative assessments for IGCSE and HSK examinations.
My teaching style can be described as interactive, vibrant, and enthusiastic, and strive to make education as enjoyable as possible. I believe this keeps students most engaged and actively participating in lessons.
I am patient, passionate, and energetic and these traits allow me to be an innovative classroom practitioner, and successfully bring the Mandarin Chinese language to my students' lives.
My teaching philosophy is to never give up on my students. I believe that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Patience is the key and I strongly believe that if teachers are willing to spend time, show their commitment to students and guide them, we will see and achieve growth.
I enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to music, and cooking. I am especially good at cooking Chinese and Taiwanese cuisines.
