Mr Carl Mincher: Weekly Update 11/11/16

11 November 2016

Dear Parents,

Walking around the campus this week I have been reminded once again just how much happens at school each week. The undercroft has been alive at break and lunchtime each day this week with the Year 12 student’s Community Service projects. I really enjoyed seeing how hard the students had worked on their projects and the creative thinking they had put into the activities on offer to the student body. This week also saw the Year 9 parent’s evening, with 94% of Year 9 parents attending.

Mark Your Diaries for the BIS Christmas BISzaar

BIS Christmas BISzaar

The hugely popular BIS Christmas Bazaar takes place on Saturday 3 December from 9am to 2pm. A great opportunity to get all your Christmas shopping done in one place, browse our charity used book stall, visit with Father Christmas and eat and drink to your heart’s content. Lots of children’s activities are also available to keep the children busy while you shop.

An event such as this cannot run without a group of reliable helpers so if you are able to help for a short time on the day please sign up here.

We are also looking for used books for our second hand book sale, all the proceeds of which go to charity. Please send along your good condition used books  - adults, children, fiction and non-fiction to the Secondary Reception. Help is also needed with new items which can be used as prizes at the tombola stall - small toys, small jewellery items, scented candles, sporting goods, packets of golf balls, coffee mugs, bags and wallets - any new items you have at home which you are not going to use will all be gratefully received.

Primary and Secondary Students Learning Together

Hanako Kawasaki from Year 12 Champion Golfer

Ladies’ National Amateur Golfer Championship Hanako Kawasaki

We are incredibly proud of Hanako Kawasaki from Year 12 who won the 2016 Ladies’ National Amateur Golf Championship (VLAC 2016) with an outstanding score of 145 shots (one stroke over par) after 2 days’ of competition (29th – 30th October) at FLC Sam Son Beach & Golf Luxury Resort in Thanh Hoa Province. Hanako also broke the tournament record for the lowest total score in the last four years. I have no doubt that we will be seeing a lot more of Hanako’s golfing prowess in years to come.
