Chuc Mung Nam Moi!
Dear Parents,
One of the reasons I love working in Vietnam is the opportunity to celebrate this countries fabulous festivals. On Wednesday, four members of the student council, Ms Thanh and I were invited by our friends at BVIS to join their Tet assembly. It was a wonderful occasion and began 3 days of celebrating the incoming Year of the Monkey.

On Thursday, it was the turn of the children in EYFS who entertained us with traditional Vietnamese songs and dances. They looked fabulous in their ao dai! For a full report and a selection of great photos, please have a look at Ms Hayley's post:

We had a change to our usual Tet assembly on Friday. Instead, the children participated in a series of traditional crafts and activities enjoyed by children all over Vietnam. Instead of Lucky Money, the children received a red envelope with a token which allowed them to have an ice cream from our very own ice cream stall. Thank you to Ms Thanh, our teaching assistants and all our support staff for making this such a wonderful and memorable occasion. To see more photos of our fair, please click on the link below:
Tet Survival Guide

Each year, our friends at Santa Fe produce a Tet Survival Guide. This document gives lots of information about Tet and which shops and restaurants are open over the holiday period. For more information, please follow the link:
Year 1 Visited Apple Kids Club in Vivo City

The children in Year 1 have been having problems recently – the toys seem to have been coming alive at night and causing all sorts of mischief. The children have managed to record some of their activities on films which you can see on Ms Holly’s and Mr Andy’s blogs.
To continue their exploration into toys, on Thursday, the children visited Apple Kids Club in Vivo City. You can read more about it here:
Managing Children’s Behaviour

A number of parents asked Mr Steve about the issue of managing children’s behaviour at our parents’ evening two weeks ago, so he has put together a post with more information here:
Juilliard News

Last week, we had a visit from Christopher Mossey, the Senior Managing Director for Educational and Artistic Affairs at Juilliard who was visiting BIS to see our facilities, find our what happens already and look to collaboration in the future. As you can see from the post, he was impressed!
If you have not yet made plans for the summer, for children in Years 5 and 6 there is an opportunity to join children from around the world at the Juilliard Summer School in Switzerland in July. Over a 2 week period, the children can specialise in dance, drama or music and receive tuition from staff from the Juilliard School in New York. For more details, follow the link:
Wishing you all a healthy, wealthy and peaceful new year,
