32 girls and boys across Mile Posts 2 & 3 represented the school in this epic event of child versus nature!
Sand bunkers, cultivated grass, water drains, palm trees, and rickety bridges, all posed obstacles for our young athletes to combat as they ran the 1.1km (U9s) and 2.2 km (U11s) distances.
The rules were different to anything our children had come across before. It wasn’t about the individual finishing first, but the whole team finishing as high up as they could in a race of 60+ runners, and collect enough points to win as a team of 8.
After our arrival at the golf course, we went over the details of the course, formed our race strategies, and stretched out our muscles. Tension and nerves were high at the start line, but a bit of banter between our team mates quickly brought smiles.
The races, as always, collectively start fast, but within 500m the runners were spread thinly out. Our team knew how important every point was to the school, and persevered through the race, even finding strength in their sprint finishes to overtake others and gain valuable points for the team.
As the results show, their efforts were truly amazing:
U9 BOYS - 1st Place
U9 GIRLS - 1st Place
U11 BOYS - 1st Place
U11 GIRLS - 3rd Place
So a massive “WELL DONE” to our runners and a great show of BIS determination. Below are the team lists and below that some photos from the event.
