Good luck to all of our NAE Games team who travel to Bangkok today. Like our Phuket players, I am sure that you will be the very best that you can be and take pride in wearing the BIS HCMC shirts – go for it! We look forward to hearing about your travels when you return on Monday.
It was with great pride that I attended the Key Stage 3 Production of the play Antigone this week. All those who took part (many of whom have recently transitioned from primary into secondary), did so with creativity and commitment ensuring that the audience was captured with an acute intensity. More information about the play can be found here.
This week, visits of children from TX have continued in preparation for our amalgamation in January. It has been great to see all of our soon to be Junior children developing friendships and working relationships across the year groups. We are all looking forward to the establishment of the BIS HCMC Early Years & Infant / Junior Campuses when we return after the Christmas break.
International Week 2018 – Update
International week has traditionally been held in the first half of Term 2 at the Primary Campus. Due to our phased amalgamation with TX, we have made the decision to postpone International Week until Term 3. As a leadership team and after consultation with the International Week committee, we felt it would be unfair to students, teachers and parents to hold such a huge event when children and teachers will only just be settling into their new classrooms and campuses.
We will confirm the new date ASAP but it is most likely to be in June towards the end of Term 3. We feel this date will allow all students to have settled into the Infant and Junior Campus and will also provide a fitting end to our amalgamation as we come together as a school to celebrate such a special event for our International community.
We would like to thank all of our parent community for your support and understanding about these changes.
Ms Dee and Ms Mary (Deputy Headteachers)

APP Year 5 – History Day

The day began with a parade for parents to show off their fabulous costumes and to place the civilisations chronologically through time. Read more about this creative historical learning in this post by Ms Deborah Spencer, Year 5 classteacher and Milepost 3 Leader.
Preparing for Amalgamation – EYFS at TX visit APP
Physical environments affect everyone’s behaviour. The notion of the environment as the ‘third teacher’ (along with children and adults) comes from recognising that there are many ways that the physical environment in school, both indoor and outdoor, can either enhance or interfere with children’s learning and independence. Read more about the cross campus work that our teachers and TAs have been doing in preparation for the forthcoming amalgamation in January, in this post by Ms Sarah Curran, Assistant Headteacher (EYFS).

On Thursday 24th November, we were treated to a wonderful performance from Dr. Kimberly Patterson (cello) and Dr. Patrick Sutton (guitar). Read more about their visit and see more pictures of their performances in this post by Mr Jonathan Canon, Music Leader (TX Primary Campus).

In order to keep our children safe on the roads outside BIS, both before and after school, please can you spend a few minutes of your time discussing the following points with your drivers.
- Never U Turn along the stretch of road outside both AP1 and AP2 – tell your driver to drive away from school and if they have to U Turn, please do so on the wider, less congested roads. Try the route past AP1 along Nguyen Van Huong, as an alternative way to get home – it may take a few extra minutes driving but it will save the time you spend in traffic.
Always remember to Stop, Drop and Go to keep the traffic flowing.
Examination Invigilators Needed
We are looking to expand our current team of invigilators by recruiting reliable and confident people to assist throughout our busy examination periods of January and May/June each year. This team invigilates at IGCSE and IB level during both internal and external examinations.
- Preparing the examination venue prior to examinations in accordance with regulations
- Distribution of scripts and supervision of students during examinations
- Team work skills and flexibility are essential
No experience is required as full training will be given and the position is on a casual basis with days/hours being variable depending on examination demands.

Fee Payment and Registration Forms
Thank you very much to all parents who have completed a registration form and made payment of the fee. A reminder that the fee is VND500k with a football kit and reduced to VND350k if your child re-uses their kit from last year. We will check all registration forms and issue an appropriate refund if a parent has paid the higher fee before the discounted amount was announced.
Shin Pads and Long Socks
Please ensure that your child always wears suitable long football socks and shin pads (they can be bought at the school shop or local sports shop). This prevents injury. Several children have not been wearing shin pads/socks at recent training.
Coaches needed for Y2/3 and 4/5/6 & Administration Volunteers
We are still looking for more Parent Coaches for the Y2/3 and Y4/5/6 teams. For each year group we want to make small coach teams (with parent and student coaches) so we/you are more flexible in case of you have to travel/have other commitments. Don’t worry too much about experience, as you will work in a team. Let us know if you can run one session and/or help to run a session each week.
*Please remember children need to wear sports kit.
*Please remember all children need shin pads with football socks to protect their legs.
*Please remember they must bring a water bottle.
*Hat or cap is optional
*You can buy Football socks from the BIS Uniform Shop, or any sports shop.
*For parents who are unable to stay throughout the whole training, would appreciate to arrive 10 minutes before your children's session ends to pick them.
