As the bus left school on Monday, Year 4 waved goodbye to parents and headed towards their home for the next 3 days: Thuy Duong Resort in Long Hai. There were a few nervous faces from children, parents and teachers alike! Once arrived, with nerves settled and lunch eaten, everyone was thrown straight into their beach-based activities. Over the next few days the classes competed in sandcastle building competitions, marble run challenges, team building exercises and many sports. Of course, to cool off after all the hard work, plenty of time was spent taking a dip in one of the hotel’s pools and paddling in the sea. Our evening activities were an opportunity to wind down ready for a restful night’s sleep. The children enjoyed roasted marshmallows at the bonfire and a film night snuggled in their duvets!
On Wednesday before the departure, for the first time as part of the Long Hai residential, the Tu Xuong children met up with the An Phu Primary Year 4 children to play some team games together and have lunch. This was a great opportunity to work together and meet new people as the two campuses move towards a future together.
The Y4 children were fantastic representatives of BIS HCMC, always showing respect and great behaviour whilst away. They also were very caring towards others in the year group and showed some excellent collaboration skills, whether completing a team challenge or simply making sure their rooms were kept tidy.
A big thank you to all teachers, Teaching Assistants and parents for their organisation, hard work and support that contributed towards this trip. The adult’s role in ensuring the children are safe and have the opportunity to learn in such a fun and exciting way is invaluable.
Ms. Ellie, Year 4 Teacher
