We have really enjoyed exploring many different materials and have made some great creations linked to our IPC topics. We especially enjoyed getting really messy when using Mod-Roc to create masks as part of our unit ‘The Circus is Coming!’.

We worked collaboratively to make the base of the mask, paint it using bright, bold colours and finally add decorations to really make them stand out. After exploring and reflecting on the work of artists who have created circus-themed pieces, we used pastels to produce our own eye-catching circus scenes.

Marbling was another favourite activity, as we really enjoyed experimenting with different coloured dyes and couldn’t believe how each piece of paper turned out differently. Year 2 always enjoy our sessions with Ms Ella and love being ‘Arty Smarties’!
