Celebrating Diversity with National Cuisine Days

02 March 2018

The BIS HCMC community represents over 50 nationalities from across the world. To celebrate this incredible diversity, we encourage our students to develop a deeper appreciation of the variety of cultures that surround them, ensuring they grow into responsible global citizens.

  • National Cuisine Day - Korea
  • National Cuisine Day - Australia
  • National Cuisine Day - Germany
  • National Cuisine Day - Italian

For annual events such as International Day, we ask both students and parents to share what makes us different and one such way is through traditional cultural foods. To build upon and celebrate this diversity in national dishes the Secondary PTG in partnership with our caterers have launched ‘National Cuisine Days’.

Each month, there will be a new National Cuisine in the spotlight. This chosen cuisine will be integrated into the school lunches provided by the caterers for 3 consecutive days, allowing us to enjoy different flavours from around the world. For month one we will be celebrating Korea on the 13th – 15th March. These 3 days will see a variety of traditional Korean dishes available at lunchtime in the Underground.

Upcoming National Cuisine Days
  • Korean Dishes - Tuesday 13th March – Thursday 15th March
  • Australian Dishes – Tuesday 10th April – Thursday 12th April
  • German Dishes – Tuesday 15th May – Thursday 17th May
  • Italian Dishes – Tuesday 12th June – Thursday 14th June

If you’d like to get involved in planning one of the above national cuisine days or would like to lead one in the 2018-2019 academic year, please contact our Secondary PTG on bisptgap2@gmail.com.
