Mr Anthony Rowlands: Weekly Update 04/05/2018

04 May 2018

It was so nice to welcome all our students back to school this week and an absolute pleasure to have spent Friday  morning at our Early Years and Infant Campus.

  • MIT students
  • MIT students
  • Darth Vadar

I am amazed at how well the campus is developing and now really does have an established atmosphere about it despite the fact that we only moved in three months ago. Great credit must be given to our wonderful staff and students for developing such a positive environment is such a short period of time. We undertook some successful work over the Spring holiday to enhance the campus and we will add to this during the summer holidays. The morning  for me started when I attended the EY&IC assembly where Mr Ian talked about perseverance which of course is one of  our key attributes. At the end of the assembly the students all sang the song “You are a Star” and there can be no better way to start a day than by listening to our wonderful children in this way.

In the Junior assembly this afternoon a very special guest appeared. Darth Vader from ‘Star Wars’ was interviewed by Ms Dee and gave outstanding examples of perseverance both from the dark side and the good side. Of course having Darth Vader attend today was perfect timing as today (May 4th ) is Star Wars day!

As you may be aware four of our students (Matheo Luong - Y6, Naomi Tran - Y6, Anya Chakrabarty - Y7, David Nguyen - Y7) accompanied by one teacher (Mr Luke Dyer) are currently in Boston at the Massachusetts  Institute of Technology (MIT). They are at MIT undertaking STEAM activities along with students from other Nord Anglia schools. We are having constant updates and they are having a wonderful experience  in one of the top  universities in the world. I am sure that there will be great deal more to tell of this trip when they return from Boston next week.

I do hope that you all have a very pleasant  weekend.

Anthony Rowlands, Principal
