Mr Carl Mincher: Weekly Update 15/06/2018

Dear Parents,

At BIS HCMC we have embraced the music programme that is offered to us, through our collaboration with The Juilliard School, New York and it is now time for the next phase of this exciting collaboration: the launch of the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Drama curriculum in August 2018

IMG_3095

Following Ms Astley’s recent visit to The Juilliard School in New York this week it was the turn of the Juilliard School to visit BIS HCMC. The Secondary Drama team were very excited to welcome Stephanie Cunningham, Juilliard Drama Specialist, to meet with our teachers, explore the Drama department and meet with BIS students, who were keen to show off the power of the Arts at BIS.

After the visit it was clear that Stephanie was already building great relationships as a basis for her future work across the school. She is contemporary, engaged, progressive and offers our staff and students both inspiration and coaching. As you would expect Stephanie is passionate about the Juilliard approach  but is also able to offer the challenge and ideas to our Drama team to take performance to an even higher level (!) at BIS. Stephanie recognises the strength of the Drama programme here and we are all excited about how we will begin integrating the Juilliard Core Works into our current work.

BIS Grand Prix 2018

On Friday 8th June 2018, our F1 in Schools World Finalists Nam Phong Racing successfully hosted the inaugural BIS Grand Prix. What Would You Do in a Zombie Apocalypse?

I know who I would go to for help.  The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) provides a challenging and rewarding educational experience based on the philosophy that students should embrace enquiry and apply critical thinking skills to challenging situations.

This week some of our Year 12 students demonstrated how their IBDP Group 4 Projects would help them to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse.

Managing our Traffic Together

Drivers Code of Conduct

We have continued to distribute a newly updated Driver’s Code of Conduct to all those who drive to school both at drop off and pick up times. With key information in both English and Vietnamese, we aim to further educate our drivers to make better choices when they enter the areas around our school campuses and within the Thao Dien area as a whole.

Please take time to talk to you drivers about the this and ensure that it is visible in your car at all times. This will serve as a reminder about our expectations for all drivers when they are bringing our children to school in the morning and picking them up at the end of the day.

If you would like a copy of the code for your driver please collect one from the Secondary Campus reception.
