Year 1 Create a Global Village

27 June 2018

As part of International Week, the Year 1 children spent time learning about buildings and structures from around the world. The global village of structures that the children had made at home provided a fantastic opportunity to share their hard work, as well as celebrating the variety of home countries within our school.

The School Hall became the whole world on Tuesday, when Year 1 combined their end of year party with the building of a spectacular Global Village. The children placed their incredible structures carefully around the hall to display – with wonderful effect. It was lovely seeing the children and parents together, discussing the lovely work that they and their friends had done, as well as taking time to talk about what they had learned. Then, the music started, and the children enjoyed some food together. It was a joy to celebrate all cultures in such an international environment and it was clear to see how proud the children felt.

What a wonderful way to mark the end of the year!
