Carl Mincher (12 posts) Head Teacher, Secondary Campus View Profile

Dear Parents

Welcome back to all of our school community for the academic year 2018-19!  I trust that you have had both a relaxing and peaceful holiday and that you and your children are ready for another year of exciting, challenging and fun learning that lies ahead.

I would like to extend an especially warm welcome to families who are new to our BIS HCMC community this year. Many have joined our orientation events to begin the process of getting to know us already but please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions as you join us and settle into your new school; it is so important to us that we can support you with your transition into our thriving community.

This year, once again, we have expanded our teaching and support staff at the Secondary Campus and I am very much looking forward to the new ideas and opportunities these staff will bring with them for our students. A warm welcome to all. Please look out for the ‘Meet the Teacher’ articles in my weekly updates to get to know each of them or go to all staff profiles which can be found on the school website by searching for Secondary Staff.

All members of our BIS HCMC staff are very much looking forward to working in partnership with you and your children over the next academic year and we look forward to seeing you on campus again soon at one of the many parent events.

Celebrating Excellent Exam Results

We begin 2018-19 in celebration of outstanding IGCSE and IB results once again. Along with the families of our Graduating Class of 2018 and our Year 11 IGCSE, now Year 12, students we are so proud of their achievements. Their success has already opened up so many opportunities for their futures both here and overseas. We wish our graduates farewell with our very best wishes as they move on to study at top universities across the globe and remind them all to keep in contact with us now as BIS Alumni. The IB Diploma Programme is incredibly popular, as ever and we have extended a welcome back to the largest ever number of our Year 11 as IB students as they embark upon their Sixth Form experience to continue their own BIS success story.

Special mention for one of our IB Graduates - Anh Tuan Le, who is among a small percentage of students who achieved the highest possible IB result of 45 points.  Congratulations to Anh Tuan as a Standout Student from the 2017/2018 Academic Year.

Exciting Facilities Renovations Over the Summer

During the summer we have also completed several projects to make the Secondary  Campus an even more exciting environment in which to learn and grow. Our new year 12 students were the first to enjoy their refurbished and extended sixth form centre and common room at their induction day - their excitement was obvious.  The new look cafeteria space has proved to be a very popular dining space at lunchtimes. Our library, learning and language support facilities, collectively now called The Curve have been a real show stopper with staff and students alike thrilled by these new and inspiring spaces in which to learn.

I will provide more information on how these changes will further improve the learning of all of our students in my weekly updates and at our forthcoming information evenings. Please look out for your letter of invitation to an Information Evening in your inbox.

For a brief overview of some of the improvements across all three campuses please read School Developments 2018-19.
