Our Tet festivities began on Monday with a bang and great excitement as we enjoyed a Dragon Dance on campus.

A very enjoyable privilege to open the Dragon Dance on Monday

Tet Festivities continued on Tuesday as staff and students delighted the whole campus with a celebration of traditional and contemporary Vietnamese song and dance. My thanks to Ms. Mai (Head of Vietnamese) and all involved for their performances and bringing Tet alive and beginning the holiday season so spectacularly.

Tet Collection Thanks

Thank you so much to all who made generous donations to the Secondary Campus Tet  UHT milk collection. Parents, staff and students together we have collected over 700 litres of milk to distribute to our partners which is a fantastic achievement.

Our partners will no doubt be thrilled to receive this as a symbol of our ongoing friendship as we move into the new year.

Tet Survival Guide

As we quickly approach the Tet Vietnamese festive holiday, please read the Tet Survival Guide kindly provided by our friends at Santa Fe Relocation with excellent advice about the events, customs and dates for a successful Tet Holiday.

Moving to a new country can be a daunting experience for anyone. It is extremely important to us that new students experience a positive start to their life at the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City and that is why I am very happy to share that the launch of our new student Transition Team has been very successful in welcoming our most recent group of joining students with a full week of activities to help provide an early feeling of belonging to their new community and school.

Uniform Upcycling- Sorted!

The Upcycling Club would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who was able to help us sort through all of the secondary uniforms collected for upcycling so far.

Last Saturday parents, students, teachers and members of the Primary uniform upcycling team made a combined effort over 4 hours of rotating volunteers and we finally tamed what seemed to be an explosion of white, beige and blue.

It was with a real sense of success that we were able to return the uniform to boxes all labelled, recorded and ready for their use in our next exciting and creative upcycling project.

We look forward to sharing more about this with you soon.

Juilliard Curriculum Specialist - Jessica Meyer

As part of our collaboration with the world-leading performing arts institute The Juilliard School New York we regularly welcome Juilliard alumni and Curriculum Specialists into school to run professional development workshops with our teachers and interactive lessons with our students.

Last week we welcomed Curriculum Specialist Jessica Meyer who wowed out students with her skills as a violist and shared her knowledge on the art of composing one’s own music.  Mr Ian Alexander, Director of Music shares more here.
