Vietnamese Language and Culture Term 1 Overview

Looking back at the first term, the children from F3 to Year 6 have been learning so many great things about our host country in Vietnamese Culture and Vietnamese Language lessons.

In Year 1, the children have been learning about the topic ‘Toys’, and have had a great time experiencing molding clay and then using it to make jewellery.  Year 4 focused on ‘Fashion’; they decorated conical hats and dressed dolls in ‘ao dai’ (traditional Vietnamese costume).  Year 6 have been studying ‘pottery’, and will soon visit the Minh Long Pottery to experience how the pottery vases, plates and bowls are moulded and decorated by skilled Vietnamese artisans.  Most importantly, the children from F1 to Year 6 put all their hearts into decorating Tet boxes, making beautiful Tet cards and donating lucky money for disadvantaged children.  We all want to share our happiness and best wishes with them.

In Vietnamese Language, this term, all of the children have worked hard in their phonics lessons and have written interesting stories in Vietnamese.  Last week they carried out assessments in order for the children and their teachers know how much they have achieved.  The teachers are very proud of the children’s hard work over the past eight weeks, and are looking forward to discussing the children’s progress when they meet the parents on Tuesday 3rd December.
