Ms Deirdre Grimshaw: Weekly Update 29/11/2019

Deirdre Grimshaw
Deirdre Grimshaw (57 posts) Head Teacher, Junior Campus View Profile

With two weeks to go before we break up for the holidays, we have plenty still planned for the students and it promises to be a busy few weeks ahead.

Headteacher coffee morning

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome a good number of parents to our Headteachers’ Coffee Morning.  Perhaps we should have labelled it Primary Leadership Coffee Morning as all of the leadership team attended to share the Primary Campus Priorities and what has been taking place over the last few months and future plans for our school.  It is exciting to see the journey we have been on and the progress we have made as a school in recent years.  It is also exciting to plan for the future and begin to put together the next phase of our journey to remain as an Outstanding school but even better!

With two weeks to go before we break up for the holidays, we have plenty still planned for the students and it promises to be a busy few weeks ahead.  We are very much looking forward to our Carol Concert on Tuesday 10th December and hope to see many of you there. Ahead of that, we will wave off our Nord Anglia Games athletes from Year 5 and Year 6 who will represent BIS at the NAE Games being held close by in District 7.  Hosted by BVIS, the games will be at RMIT and all support is welcome on Saturday and Sunday as they compete.

This week Term 1 clubs finished.  Please ensure that next week you collect your children at the end of the school day (2.30pm). Sign up for Term 2 clubs will open shortly and there are a few changes to this. Please read this important section by Mr Chris which gives more detail.

Term 2 Clubs

CCA sign up is just around the corner and the Club Booklet is in the final stages of completion. Lookout for the email informing you of available CCAs by the end of next week, and then the official opening of sign-up begins of Monday the 3rd of December at 5pm and remains open until 12pm on Friday the 13th. Don’t miss out! There will be a number of changes this coming term to make sure that the sign-up process is more transparent and fair to all. The dates that have been set will be strictly enforced, and once CCAs have been signed up there will not be an opportunity for changes. All club allocation completely automated using the CHQ platform. By doing this, we are better able to ensure that those who miss out on a preferred CCA choice will have the opportunity when the next round of CCAs begin. Payment for those CCA which charge fees will also be streamlined and will only be available over a 3-day period. Bank transfers are available, and certainly make life much easier for you, the parents, when it comes to making payments. We have an amazing array of CCAs ready for your children in Term 2, so get them ready!

Health and Safety

Managing our Traffic Together

Drivers Code of Conduct

We would like to remind all parents about our Drivers Code of Conduct and once more ask for your assistance and cooperation in helping to make the BIS traffic flow with ease between the campuses and in the general vicinity of the school. Using the Code of Conduct, with key information in both English and Vietnamese, we aim to further educate our drivers to make better choices when they enter the areas around our school campuses and within the Thao Dien area as a whole.

Please take time to talk to you drivers about the this and ensure that it is visible in your car at all times. This will serve as a reminder about our expectations for all drivers when they are bringing our children to school in the morning and picking them up at the end of the day.

Safeguarding at school – it’s everyone’s responsibility
