What’s Going On in the Curve?

In the Curve this month, we have been so busy completing the cataloguing of all new books, filling the shelves for students to browse in search of some great reading for the upcoming holiday. We really do have some wonderful additions to our Secondary library book collection this term. Why not take a closer look at our new Fiction and Non-Fiction book collections to help support and guide your child’s holiday reading choices?

New Fiction 2019-20

New Non-Fiction 2019-20

All of our fiction books are categorised:  all readers (F for fiction: 11-18 years) or older readers only (YA for Young Adult: 15-18 years).

Look out for additional age recommendations in individual book descriptions too to help guide your son’s or daughter’s reading choices.

NAE Global Library ‘One World, One Book’

The NAE Global Library has added two new books to the Global Library Canon for Secondary students this year.

  • Zen Pencils - BIS HCMC
  • Symphony for the city of the dead

Both books have been at the very top of our ‘Top Titles’ list throughout this term, so students are obviously very much enjoying reading both books. There are lots of activities, an interview with the author, and an opportunity to share thoughts about each book with other NAE students around the world on NAE Global Library.  Check out our New Book collections for more information.

NAE Comic Book Competition Launch!

This year’s NAE Comic Book Competition is inspired by Gavin Aung Than’s ‘Zen Pencils Inspirational Quotes for Kids’.

The competition is open to all ages, and all shortlisted winners will be published in our Nord Anglia Education global, digital comic book.

Excitingly, one winner from each age category (4 winners in total) will have their comics illustrated by NAE’s SURPRISE guest illustrator. (Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement of who this will be!)

Here you can find everything you need to know about the Comic Book Competition, and more importantly how you can get involved! Take a look to discover how you can become this years' NAE Comic Book Competition WINNER.

Competition Closes: 24th January 2020

Pass on the Power: Y12 Book Review Competition Winner

Year 12 Book Review Winner | BIS HCMC

Congratulations to our Y12 Book Review winner, Faith, for her thoughtful and engaging review of Maya Angelou’s autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which ‘...although heavy and difficult to talk about, ...captures the purity and innocence of a black girl in the world that was so dominated by the white race in the south during the depression.’ (Full Book Review here)
