The students planned activities and games through which they could raise the awareness of their peers at An Binh Government School on the importance of road safety. On 2nd April, the students from BIS held a fair at the Junior Campus which included an array of fun activities, ensuring An Binh students understood the repercussions of being less than careful while on the road as well as the precautions they should take. The games included; colouring, racing and pillow fighting! Winners were awarded simple gifts that kept everyone motivated. BIS students also shared short videos and presentations they made beforehand with road safety instructions, statistics and facts making sure that the message of the event was well received.

Each of the participating 50 students from An Binh Government School, a standing BIS community partner, received safety helmets before leaving which were generously donated by the Secondary PTG through funds raised during the Christmas BISzaar 2018.

Our Year 9 students provide their thoughts on this project:

“It was fun but challenging.”

“This was a very educational project, that gave us a lot of creative freedom.”

“The project is a fantastic way to raise awareness for a noble cause, whilst maintaining a strong, fun and creative aspect.”

“Helmets for kids is all about raising awareness, it was an interesting and enjoyable experience.”

“Recognising the importance in the little things. A small object can affect your whole future.”

Year 9s excelled in creating a fun atmosphere to share important information about using helmets to be safe on the road. Raising awareness and learning life skills can be achieved by collaborating together to create a fun set of activities for our local community partners.
