Dear Parents,

We are now well into our stride as the term’s routines and new adventures have started this week.

Monday’s Year 7 PTSC welcomed a tremendous number of parents for those all important conversations regarding learning, progress and wellbeing.  The engaged partnership working between teachers, parents and students was evident throughout the evening and a real joy to see. You may already know that there is a wealth of research globally that indicates the added positive effect of an education when the parent-school partnership is strong. On Monday we saw that our Year 7 parents believe this too, thank you for coming along to join us.

In readiness for their exciting adventure to Borneo later this term the Year 9 parents joined us for a pre-expedition information evening which has added to the anticipation, thank you too for attending. Like you I am very much looking forward to the stories of adventure and even courage and certainly of new experiences. These are planned to be opportunities to develop the character attributes we value highly in our students and to feel the reward of, at times stepping out of their comfort zone and into the “discomfort zone” where such great learning can take place.

As the week drew to a close, on Friday we hosted a swim meet as part of the SISAC Swimming events this week and the impassioned support of all on poolside filled the building with chants and encouragement. What a great atmosphere to end the week on. All results, Pool A and B will be shared next week.

Overview of the week’s activities

“Band 45” join Battle of the Bands Saigon - May 15th

BIS - “Band 45” join Battle of the Bands Saigon

On Wednesday 15th May, the winning KS3 band from our Battle of the Bands event in October, “Band 45” will represent BIS at the International Schools Battle of the Bands grand final.  International Schools from across the city are being represented by their winning band in a prestigious event at the Hard Rock Cafe. Good luck to Band 45 from all of us and if you want to support….

The competition will be at 6pm and results at 7pm.  Band 45 would love a supportive audience of students, parents and teachers.

Augmented Reality in the Classroom

BIS - Augmented Reality in the Classroom

Providing an engaging learning environment is essential for the success of any education. But how does a school ensure they are providing this type of experience for every child? Integrating cutting-edge technological trends into the classroom such as Augmented Reality (AR) is one method we use to achieve this at BIS HCMC.
