More SPLAT in F3

Having learning at the forefront of communication is a vital part of how our children learn, grow and develop.  Therefore, we at BIS feel it paramount to include many opportunities for our parents to see their child’s learning in action.  Part of these opportunities is our SPLAT sessions (Stay, Play and Learn All Together).  SPLAT in Term 3 began this week in F3 where many parents became involved in the learning.

We were delighted to invite parents into F3 once again to share our learning. It was a pleasure to see children more confidently showing parents around our learning spaces and demonstrating how much progress they had made since parents last joined us in class. We called the session ‘Read, read, read’ so that we could hone in on some of the reading opportunities available in class; red words and green words, captions and ditties, drawing pictures to show our understanding of what we had read, changing characters on story maps to support the development of our Talk for Writing, telling stories using character props and puppets. Children gain so much confidence and pride from leading their parents around our spaces, so we really value these parent interactions in school.

We hope too that parents learned how their children learn at school and picked up some tips on how to help their early readers at home.
