Transition Team Training Day

In January, the student Transition Team was created to ensure every new student had the support they needed for a positive experience when joining the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City.

Transition Team Training Day - BIS HCMC

Feedback from the new starters since January has been very positive. One student said, “The Transition Team helped me a lot in getting used to life at BIS”.

The Transition Team needed to prepare for the larger cohort of new starters coming this August 2019. On Wednesday, the existing team welcomed and helped train the new recruits to the Transition Team with the help of Ms McWilliam, Ms An Ho, Ms Webb and Mr Pugh. The day was planned around setting goals, developing knowledge of emotional wellbeing, and reviewing the existing activities to ensure that the new starters experience a school environment where students can flourish and develop a culture of care and respect.  It was an excellent opportunity for all team members to develop their leadership skills.

Jun Hee Seo, Year 8, said that the best bits of the day were, “when we created activities that would help the new students adjust to the new school environment.”

Esther Kim, Year 7 said that she enjoyed, “meeting new people, planning with good people about how to help the new starters at school.”

The Transition Team look forward to welcoming our new BIS students in August!
