We’re proud of our splash pool provision at the Early Years and Infant Campus where children, alongside class teachers and teaching assistants, explore water play, take their first tentative steps in the pool and start to build trust in the water. The F3 timetable and curriculum takes this one stage further with children undertaking their first formal swimming lessons as part of their weekly programme of activities. This week saw class teachers and TAs support the PE and swimming coaches to help children transfer that trust from the smaller splash pool to the bigger swimming pool. Teachers and coaches were delighted to see how confidently our young learners took to the water; able to hold onto paddle boards, to put their faces in the water and to kick as they started to travel. For some children, this is the next physical challenge to take in their stride, but for other children, this new F3 ‘first’ has been a real milestone where they have required support to make this transition. Well done to all the children who have embraced this new part of school life and we look forward to seeing their progress in the water.
