Heartbeat Vietnam - Y12 Assembly in Juniors

At BIS, we like to collaborate with members of the community based on other campuses.  Two weeks ago, I was scheduled to lead the assembly at Juniors, when I was contacted by a group of Year 12 students, who told me about their ongoing work raising awareness and money for the charity ‘Heartbeat Vietnam’.  As the theme of the assembly was respect (treating others how you would like to be treated), it seemed like a great opportunity to work together.

Here is what the students had to say:

“We put together this assembly as part of our CAS project in order to raise awareness for the issue of congenital heart disease. We are working in partnership with VinaCapital’s Heartbeat Vietnam in order to support the children suffering from these diseases.

Heartbeat Vietnam raises money in order to fund life-changing heart surgeries for poor children in Vietnam whose families cannot afford to pay $1,200 USD themselves (after matching funds from provincial government organizations, and insurance coverage). VinaCapital also run other programmes (Rural Outreach Clinics, Critical Response, Survive To Thrive, Brighter Path, Mr. Sun) as well in order to further support a range of different people in need within the Vietnamese community.

Our community needs your help! Your support in this cause would be greatly appreciated through donations on their official website. There are also many volunteering opportunities doing  activities for the children in the care of VinaCapitals programs.

Thank you all for taking the time to read through this post and for contributing to this important cause.”
