Every class from F2 – Y2 has been working as frantically as a Christmas elf to produce lots of wonderful goodies to sell. From mini ChristMaths trees to ChristMaths cards, all the children have used their maths skills to make some wonderful decorations and festive treats. The children have been measuring ingredients for biscuits, describing and cutting Christmas shapes and sequencing paper chains. Some classes had also made some festive games to play. There was snowman bowling, biscuits galore and even a snowball fight!
The children were each given 5,000vnd to spend in the market and trade with the other children across their year groups. Using money for simple transactions is a great way of showing the children how their maths skills can be used in ‘real life’ situations and also teaches them to be a responsible shopper. It was wonderful to see all the children interact so well with each other, using not only their maths skills but their manners too, as they purchased and sold their treats.
To top off a fantastic morning of trading, there was even a visit from Santa! Who came to spread even more festive cheer!
Well done to all the children and staff who helped to make it such a fantastic morning.
