We hear the word ‘wellbeing’ a lot but what does it really mean? Wellbeing is a combination of our physical, mental, emotional and social health. Developing wellbeing is more than ensuring the absence of ill-health, it’s about taking action to adopt thinking and behaviour patterns that have been shown to foster flourishing overall health. At BIS, we aim to include wellbeing within our curriculum through PSHE as well as through our daily practice.
As it is so important, we are going to have a Wellbeing Day on Friday 19th June 2020 at both the EY&I and Junior Campuses. Many different elements contribute to wellbeing so on Wellbeing Day there will be a range of activities the children will get to experience. Everyone is invited to come to school wearing their pyjamas or comfortable clothes. Each campus will start the day off with all children participating in an active session led by our fantastic PE team. Throughout the day, they will take part in activities such as mindful breathing, mindful colouring and some yoga. Meditation will also feature throughout the day and there will be a yummy, nutritious lunch! Part of wellbeing is recognising what we do well as individuals so children will also be asked to reflect on this and compliment themselves. It’s going to be a wonderful day all round!
