Juilliard Teacher Training

Over the last 2 weeks members of the Performing Arts team at BIS HCMC have been attending online training with our wonderful counterparts at the Juilliard School in New York alongside teachers from our Nord Anglia family all over the world. It was a chance to reconnect with others in our teaching disciplines, forge new connections and be reinvigorated by our wonderful Juilliard specialists.

Juilliard Kick Start

In normal times we would get to meet, and train, and build our skills in person, alongside receiving invaluable visits from our respective Juilliard representative, and it was wonderful that we were still able to have this important connection at the start of our year.

In the sessions we were able to explore some of the new material available to us and our students, as well as get a taste of what is to come and remind ourselves of the Juilliard approach to teaching that has helped us develop our own curricula. We joined in with practical activities from classrooms, kitchens, living rooms and hotel rooms across the globe. Those of us at BIS HCMC stayed up a little later to achieve this whilst others got up that little bit earlier.

Juilliard Kick Start

Being a part of this was not just a reminder of how lucky we and our students are to have the resources and the expertise of the Juilliard experts to help us develop and achieve the potential of every member of our community, but also how important the connections of our wider Nord Anglia family are. For each of our schools there are different challenges, but through events like this we can share our passions and our ambitions for our students as we move forward together.

Here at BIS HCMC we are looking forward to introducing the new Juilliard core works within our curriculum, and getting involved with projects such as ‘Ask the Artist’ and the ‘NAE Young Musician of the Year competition’ that will be launched later this term. Things might be a little different at the moment, but that doesn’t mean that they need to be any less exciting, or that we are any less connected and committed to sharing our amazing opportunities and experiences.
