Well done to both Year 4 and 5 for their excellence Sports Days last week. The PE team hope the children enjoyed the new layout and new activities.

The week ahead sees two big sporting events with the HIS football festival and also BISAC Tennis on Saturday 11 May. St Andrews International School Bangkok will be taking 90 children to the morning of football which is more than any other school in Bangkok. It’s is the last football tournament of the year and a great chance for our children to show the progress they have made and enjoy playing together one last time.

Tickets went on sale this week for the exciting new event for U11, the FRIDAY NIGHT GAME, hosted by Mr Ollie and his team at High School. Tickets are for sale in the main Primary School Office and also in front of the Office this coming Thursday and Friday morning. It will be a really fun event with live music, dance and popcorn for the children. The tickets are 50 baht which is donated to charity.

Sports Day

Year 4 & Year 5 Sports Days took place last week. The aim of these sports is for the children to work hard and enjoy the different activities to win points for their Houses. Well done to the winning teams Karen and Akha.

Football

Last Monday our boys played their friendly FOBISIA football fixture. Both teams won their games in convincing fashion with some very strong performances from our teams. This should give them great confidence going into the tournament @ HIS on 11 May and the FOBISIA Games in June.

Next is our tournament at Harrow on 11 May. These will be the last matches before FOBISIA.

  • 11 May - HIS Football Festival - U9 Girls A/B/C teams, U9 boys A & B team - U11 Girls/Boys A & B teams.

Teeball

Some great photos from last weekends BISAC tournament.

Our girls’ teeball goes from strength to strength building on the confidence gained from last weekend’s BISAC tournament. This time they had a friendly BISAC game and were convincing winners.

Next up we have the boys’ fixture on Wednesday and then a very important FOBISIA teeball friendly with Patana on 14 May.

  • 8 May - U11 Boys teeball friendly @ NIST,  2.15 p.m. leave

Gymnastics

Well done to our gymnasts last weekend for their excellent performances at the BISAC Gymnastics Competition.

Miss Bogi is very proud of the progress they have been making. Here are some more photos from the last weekend.

Tennis

More sport news with our U11 Flames Tennis children playing in their friendly over the weekend. So great to see so many children playing sport over the weekend and in two sports, tennis and gymnastics, that have had massive growth over the last two years.

Swimming

We hope everyone has settled in with their swimming ECA and Squad in Term 3. Please can you contact our ECA coordinator or goh.ph@standrews.ac.th if you wish to be withdrawn or added from Swim Squad and ECA.

On Saturday 25th May, our Primary school will be holding Mini Marlin Mayhem swim competition specifically designed to give our Learn To Swim and developmental swimmers the opportunity to race and represent our school. Kindly stay tune for further information.

Friday ‘Night’ Game #3 and U11 3on3 Championships

On 17 and 18 May, we have two big basketball events for our U11s to enjoy, starting with our FNG#3 against visiting teams from Pattaya and Phuket. This will be a fun event with music and dance as usual, as well as an exhibition 3on3 game featuring our own coaches against some of our U16 ballers.

Tickets are 50 thb and go on sale Wednesday morning (from 7.15 a.m.) at both campuses (near the entrance). We’re asking all parents and non-participating students to buy a ticket. All proceeds go to charity.

You’ll need to show your ticket on the door.

The Games start on 11 June (travel to Phuket on 10 June) with 3 days of sporting competition (swimming, athletics, teeball and football) before heading home on 14 June. Once again it will be a tough few days with our children competing against some of the best sports schools in Asia.

New range of supporter T-shirts

We know how supportive our parent community is in the lives of our students at St Andrews International School Bangkok - it’s one of the things that makes our school so special - and we are excited to announce that we have a new range of parent supporter T-shirts just for you.

These great shirts are now available at the Uniform Shop at both Primary and High School for the very reasonable price of 250 baht (220 baht for the sleeveless top). Be a part of the team.

Sporting Conferences

We appreciate that you are often hearing different acronyms - TISAC, BISAC, FOBISIA - that we are involved in but may not know much about them. We hope that the following overview will therefore be useful.

We are currently members of four conferences or organisations:

TISAC: Thailand International Schools Activities Conference

We have been members for many years. This has 16 schools involved which vary in size from small to very large. Currently, we mostly enter Blaze teams in TISAC. There are leagues and tournaments in several sports from U9-U19 and next year, TISAC will also start its own multi-sport Games for Primary children.

BISAC: Bangkok International Schools Athletic Conference

This is our first year in BISAC. The 12-school membership includes the largest international schools in Bangkok in leagues and tournaments across many sports, from U9-U19, split into four seasons through the year. BISAC schools also run invitational tournaments.

FOBISIA: Federation of British International Schools in Asia

This has three major multi-sport Games per year (Primary, U13 and U15) that take place in Phuket against other schools across Asia. There are also single-sport events in Tennis, Golf, Swimming and more, which take place across Asia and provide some amazing travel opportunities.

NAE: Nord Anglia Education

We are part of the South East Asia division and meet for a U11 multi-sport Games once a year. Our schools take it in turn to host the NAE Games.

In addition, we are part of the wider circuit regionally which means we are invited to a whole range of other events across Thailand.

Currently we are able to offer STA students opportunities through these conferences in Football, Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Badminton, Golf, Teeball, Track and Field, Triathlon, Cross Country.

If you have any questions about these conferences, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Damon (damon.se@standrews.ac.th).
