Find out what Mr Steve learnt whilst working closely with the Year 3 team. The VSE After School Activities launch this week with plenty of Sport, Art and Music on offer!

VSE Continues and After School Activities are Coming!

Over the last few weeks, I have been working closely with the Year 3 team, helping them deliver the VSE to all the students. A few things really stood out for me during this time. Firstly, how well the students are getting on with the technology involved in the VSE learning. All students who are new to Year 3 know their way around Seesaw, can follow different links and upload their work to the learning platform.

I was also privileged to see, first-hand, how hard the Year 3 team, like all the other teaching teams, are working to deliver a VSE programme that the students can access. Plans are adapted and changed from what would usually be delivered in the classrooms, conversations on how to deliver each part of the online curriculum are ongoing and marking all the SeeSaw work is daily. It really is a team effort.

Finally, I met many of our parents to have conversations about how their children are accessing the VSE. Obviously, there are some difficulties that occasionally need to be addressed. Still, parents seem very happy with the content of the VSE curriculum and how well their children are getting on. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who are supporting their children by helping them complete online work to such a good standard and also for supporting teachers by keeping students going through this challenging period. It really does take the whole community to create and run a successful VSE programme.

Dough Disco in FS3

The FS3 children have really enjoyed “Dough Disco” with Ms Isla this week. This activity helps strengthen children's fine motor muscles to enable them to develop their pencil grip, which will help develop their writing skills. But most of all it's fun! Making sure we continue to develop all areas of learning while we are on VSE.

Combining Chocolate and Science in Year 4

Last week saw the Year 4 students do some fantastic Science experiments with chocolate as part of their ‘Heating and Cooling’ topic in science and their Year 4 ‘Chocolate’ topic. The students had to find the melting points of different types of chocolate and see whether the type of chocolate affected the melting point. The results were fascinating, and it’s not every day you get to eat your results afterwards! The pictures above show some highlights.
