Village students enter the Entrepreneurship Diploma at the beginning of 11th grade. The program focuses on teaching finance, leadership development, negotiations, decision-making, marketing, strategy, international business and trade, money management, and more. Within the diploma, students can specialize in either the Engineering or Social Enterprise track. Both tracks are taught by industry-leading professionals and entrepreneurs and expose students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.
Both tracks culminate in a Capstone project, in which students develop a business idea to solve an identified problem. With mentorship, students practice and apply collaboration, interpersonal, and entrepreneurial skills as they research, create, execute, and evaluate their business idea. As part of their Capstone, students participate in a Pitch Night hosted by The Village School, which is attended by their peers, parents, entrepreneurs, and Village community members.
Entrepreneurship students must also participate and compete in several pitch competitions in the Houston community as part of their diploma program. In addition to these competitions, student will complete a Capstone project, in which they develop a business idea to solve an identified problem. With mentorship, students practice and apply collaboration, interpersonal, and entrepreneurial skills as they research, create, execute, and evaluate their business idea.
