MEDICATION GUIDELINES

All medications must be FDA approved and require parental permission. IF prescriptive, a copy of the pharmacy note must also be provided by the parent. It is important for parents to know that the permission will be used during the school day and school trips; without this permission your child may not receive pain medication should it be needed.

Daily Medications

Stock over-the-counter medications can be found on the SNAP health portal and all parents can electronically sign giving permission. Other over-the-counter medication not listed but required by the student can be documented on the Medication Form provided in forms of the SNAP health portal

All medications are given in accordance with the packaging label on the product, by age and weight appropriate strengths.

All medication must be brought to the clinic by the parent, in the original container (no Ziploc bags), whether over the counter or prescription.

Students are not permitted to have medication in their possession except those in Middle and High school who require inhalers. Permission is granted once an asthma plan is completed with a physician's statement confirming the student is competent to do so. Inhalers must be labeled with the student’s name.

Action Plans for Medical Conditions

For all students, if medical conditions exist such as Asthma or seasonal Asthma-type symptoms, Allergies, Diabetes, Epilepsy or Seizures, an Action Plan must be completed by the parent and doctor.

The form is on the SNAP health portal in forms.
