A seamless transition into the Virtual School Experience

Following Sunday’s announcement regarding school closures, for the last five days of this term we have moved back to our Virtual School Experience (VSE). Emails and information were sent out on Sunday evening, and on Monday morning we launched straight back into teaching.

I have been tremendously pleased with the seamless way that this transition has taken place. Students and parents were confident in accessing the learning platforms. Attendance was excellent, with students actively engaging in their learning, participating in live sessions and submitting work completed independently. As well as covering academic subjects, students have had opportunities to engage in music, dance, art and other physical and practical activities. Our primary children have all enjoyed a daily story time. Virtual assemblies were held, culminating in today’s fabulous Tet assembly.

I should like to say a heartfelt ‘Thank-you’ to everyone who has been involved in VSE this week. To the teachers who have worked tirelessly to ensure learning could carry on with just as much impact as when lessons are face-to-face. To our behind the scenes support teams at school, particularly ICT and marketing departments. To our parents, who have got children up and ready in the mornings, and supported learning throughout the day. And to our students, who have got on with the business of learning and engaged so willingly with their teachers. It has been a wonderful team effort, which could not happen without the involvement of all our stakeholders.

As yet, we do not know what the situation will be after the holiday, when school resumes on 22nd February. We very much hope that all students will be back in school, but if that is not the case, VSE will continue as it has this week. We will, of course, keep you updated as soon as we have confirmation of the situation.

I should like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very enjoyable Tet holiday and all the very best for the new year. Please keep safe and keep well. Chuc mung nam moi!
