Key Dates | Primary Learning Highlights
Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of our first half-term, there are exciting exit points happening over the coming days; curriculum exit points are designed to be a celebration of the learning that has happened over the course of a half-term or unit. Please look out for these events and feel free to join in. In Year 4, for example, the students are invited to teach their parents an art skill they have learned since the beginning of the year.
As you already know, our International Festival launches on Wednesday with a whole school assembly at 8:50 am. We are so excited to bring International Festival back to BIS through the Virtual School Experience and know that all our students have got a thrilling three days ahead of them. Ms. Kirk and the Performing Arts Teams have designed a series of engaging projects for all our Primary students and our class teacher will get the opportunity to connect with students across the year and phase group. It promises to be fantastic final few days of this first half-term.
This week it is Year 1 who are taking the spotlight in learning, and I hope you enjoy this short video of their learning. The Year 1 teaching team are incredibly proud of their progress and attitude to learning so well done Year 1s – keep up the good work.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

Wednesday 13 October to Friday 15 October: International Week
It has been an exciting few weeks in Year 1. Our students enjoyed lots of interesting and creative activities, such as making some delicious dishes, designing houses and building amazing bridges. They even travelled around the world in a virtual tour in their IPC topic. The students have been making tremendous progress in learning and we are so proud to present you some of the wonderful lessons that Year 1 had in this video below.
We have had an action-packed agenda of inter-house activities, Christmas performances from Foundation Stage and Year 1, and today we had our Principal’s Award Assembly for the whole school.
I hope you have all had a good week and are beginning to get into the festive spirit ahead of the holiday season.
Thank you to all families who joined us to be entertained with our Secondary theatre production of A Little Shop of Horrors this week.
From Sunday onwards, we have had our CIS/WASC visiting team here at school. This has been a great opportunity to share all the wonderful things that we are providing for our students across all sections and to gain further insight and ideas to help us improve even further.
