Primary School Update (17 February 2023)

Primary School Update - Primary School Update

Weekly update from Head of Primary

Dear Parents,

This morning, our Year 5 students woke up in the library, a little bleary eyed but full of beans from their sleepover last night in the library. Following a range of activities, including football, arts and crafts, and cooking, the students set up their beds and sleeping areas before having a delicious dinner of pizza and salad in the canteen. It was then up to the theatre for a movie before settling down and getting ready for bed.

Teachers were reflecting on how wonderful it was to see the students mixing and enjoying activities beyond the classroom, as well as seeing new bonds and connections being made ahead of the Year 5 residential to Cuc Phuong. We know there were a few nerves in anticipation, but everyone did brilliantly! A big thank you and well done to all the Primary staff who are supporting all our Years 4, 5, and 6 students through these sleepover experiences.

It was also wonderful to welcome parents into school this morning for our Writing Drop-In across Key Stage 2. Ms. Harvey talked about our writing approach in Key Stage 2 and gave parents some tips on what to look out for. It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning.

Mrs. Atkinson led our second week of Early Explorers in EYC this week. Early Explorers is our parent and baby group that runs every Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday sessions are divided into two age groups: 0-12 months and 12-24 months, while Thursdays are dedicated to sensory play. These sessions allow babies to explore their senses and enjoy activities with their parents right there with them. Furthermore, these sessions are a great way for parents to connect, make new friends, and share stories of their parenting journey. If you are interested in a free trial session or signing up, please contact: earlyexplorers@bishanoi.com

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
