Since January our early morning U14 Girls’ football programme has been dedicated to Futsal. With our players aiming to improve their game, I took the opportunity of arranging our inaugural U14 in-house Futsal Competition over a two-week period.
The drama from one week to the next was intense and exciting for all involved. The girls rose to the occasion and made the tournament unique, demonstrating ambition, competitive spirit and integrity.
The teams were a mix of experienced and inexperienced players spanning over the three year groups. By the end of the tournament, all the girls involved had managed to participate in over an hour and twenty minutes of game time. The winners of the tournament were a team named White Sharks captained by Emese from Year 9. They were the only team not to lose a game throughout the event.
I want to thank the girls, who no matter rain or shine, always give their all and make every event worthwhile. I would also like to thank the parents for their fantastic support towards the growth of the Girls’ Football programme. I aim to make Futsal a permanent part of our winter morning training, with the aim of transferring these acquired skills into Football.
