This week was Maths Week for students in EY and Primary. The theme of the week was famous mathemticians, where we focused on a different mathematician and area of maths each day.
Here were our focus areas:
Monday – Pythagoras (lines and angles)
Tuesday – Thales (shapes)
Wednesday – Erno Rubik (maths in games)
Thursday – The Roman Empire (statistics)
Friday – Han Dynasty (position and direction)
Throughout the week, students took part in a variety of exciting, innovative and practical maths lessons and it was great to see all the learning taking place. As well as fun lessons, on Wednesday many students took part in a Rubik’s cube challenge. Well done to all who took part and who managed to solve their cube.
Last week during our Smart Student Council meetings, students voted that they would like to take part in a times tables competition. The competition was fierce and after the top three students were selected from their class, they went forward to challenge for the year group title. Again, well done to everyone for taking part and congratulations to the winners!
We finished off our fantastic Maths week by holding a whole Year 3-6 Timestables Rockstar battle where students rocked out and solved times tables questions to earn points for their class.
