This week, Secondary students brought the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to life in their Goals-themed week. The Goals Week is an inspiring new addition to our annual calendar and is a wonderful example of a wholly student-led project demonstrating just how keen our students are to act to protect our world.
Max Ding and Emily Waltham in Year 13 were chosen to represent BISB at the annual Nord Anglia-UNICEF Student Summit during their summer break in July this year. To be eligible for this fantastic opportunity they had to create a project to further our school’s already extensive work on understanding and working towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Their project was the creation of Goals Week, which has tested their planning, collaboration and determination from project inception right through to the thought-provoking activities we have enjoyed over the last few days. The week culminated in the Social Impact Student Union (SISU) holding its termly fair, to showcase all the work towards the goals which takes place in the various Social Impact CCAs.
We hope you join us in congratulating Max, Emily, and Allegra Strohmayer (our Social Impact Prefect) for coordinating the SISU Fair, and all the students who took part over the course of the week. Student participation and action is a key strand of our work towards the next level of the Social Impact Award, which helps us further empower students to enjoy and exercise their rights, promote the rights of others, and use this as a foundation for widening their Social Impact.
Following the postponement of Journey’s End before Christmas, we are pleased to announce the new dates.
Year 9 have been showing their green fingers/thumbs by trying to germinate cress seeds under various conditions, to see what is important for the seed growth.
There was more basketball on Saturday. This time our U14 Girls A and B teams had their DVAC Festival here at BISB.
