Last week our U11 Wolves athletes travelled to the British International School in Prague to compete in the NAGGE Football and Basketball competition. This was our Primary students' first major sports competition since 2018!
Day 1 of the competition saw the boys take to the basketball court and the girls, the football pitch. Both teams competed in matches against five of our Nord Anglia family of schools across Europe: NAIS Dublin, BIS Bratislava, La Cote Aubonne Switzerland, TBS Warsaw and the hosts, Prague British International School.
Our young Wolves performed absolutely brilliantly on Day 1. With each match, our boys' and girls' teams just kept getting better and better. Both teams showed exceptional teamwork and dedication throughout their tournaments. Considering, for many of our athletes this was their first experience of competitive football and basketball representing BISB, this opportunity has really helped them develop their skills and confidence. Facing some tough competition, our athletes demonstrated resilience and a strong sense of team spirit. Their effort and commitment were evident in every match they played and we are extremely proud of all of their performances. Our boys' basketball team finished in an impressive 2nd place and our girls football team finished 4th. After tying on points with another school, 3rd place had to be decided by which team had the better goal difference. Unfortunately, our girls just missed out on this occasion!
On Day 2 of the tournament, it was time for the girls to compete in basketball and the boys to compete in football. Day 2 brought another fantastic day of sporting competition for our U11 NAGGE athletes. Our girls' basketball team improved with every game and although they didn't manage to achieve a podium finish on this occasion, they had a valuable learning experience and have shown tremendous potential for the future. This will be a team to watch! Our boys football team had an exceptional tournament and displayed some truly fantastic football. They came away as well-deserved champions and we will no doubt see more successes from this young team in years to come.
Congratulations to all our U11 Wolves athletes who participated in this competition!
