Our Secondary students have been fully engaged in investigating about environmental issues and form groups have worked collaboratively together to come up with different fundraising events for The Million Tree Project (MTP) run by Shanghai Roots and Shoots.

On Monday 24 May, BISS Puxi students experienced one of their first competitive Sports Days. This Sports Day is the third in a series of five Sports Days hosted by BISS Puxi. Although activities such as running, jumping, and throwing feature in all five Sports Days, the timing, complexity, and competitiveness of each Sports Day is heightened as the student progresses through the school.

Studying on the IB Diploma Programme helped Daniel Hawkins discover a passion for medicine. Daniel graduated from the school in 2020. In 2021 he will be embarking on his first steps towards becoming a doctor, after securing offers from two Medical Schools in the UK.

We would like to invite students to participate in the upcoming Performing Arts recitals on Monday 1 March – Thursday 4 March.

Our department mission was and continues to be, to create an environment that fosters a life-long love of sport through participation, and to provide opportunities to develop, succeed and excel.

We are the Eco Club and we want to improve our community’s approach to the environment. We are going to be promoting and organising activities for the future of the planet.

There have been a number of questions regarding the lunch provision in school and we want to reassure our parents that we take this feedback seriously. There has been a meeting with John (our Head Chef and Catering Manager) who is keen to provide a good service and he will be feeding back to his staff about the specific questions and concerns about food preparation and how this can be improved.

As many of the cast and staff will tell you, BISS Puxi has a reputation for putting on fantastic productions. While the production teams may vary, and the students may change, the quality of Performing Arts remains consistently excellent. This has been especially true over the past few years due to the collaboration between our school and Juilliard.

On Friday 6 November, all students at BISS Puxi had the opportunity to dress up in animal costumes, safari-themed clothes, or Tanzania flag colours to fundraise for the charity Seeway Tanzania.

We would like to confirm our dates and show times for Seussical. Due to the current restrictions we are still unable to invite parents onto the site to watch the show. As such, we have arranged for two performances to be streamed live, with each performance starting at 14:00 with an expected ending time of 15:15.

On Friday 25 September we celebrated the European Day of Languages 2020. This year our focus at BISS Puxi was on Italian!

Though it is longer than I care to admit, I remember walking into my reception classroom in Sydney with not a single word of English. It was daunting, stressful, and uncomfortable.

Every year, on the third Tuesday of September, the Dutch government announces their plans for the upcoming year. To celebrate this special event called ‘Prinsjesdag’, consul-general Mr van Wijngaarden traditionally visits Shanghai Dutch School. This year we had the honor of receiving a personalized video message.

It’s great to be back. The school is starting to feel like the BISS Puxi of August 2019, before all of the quarantine and supervision rules and staggered leaving times. It has been a long summer with many people working hard to ensure the school has taken all of the necessary steps to ensure we were able to open again safely.

Students from the Native German classes received their Principal's Commendations this week in the Secondary foyer.

In order to help keep our community connected we invited students, parents, and teachers to participate in regular 'Virtual Choir' rehearsals. This was made possible thanks to the use of Microsoft Teams which we introduced to families through our NAESVE programme. We welcomed over 90 members to the choir which included established singers, and those new to singing!
