My time at BISS allowed me to make connections and develop friendships with students from all across the world. It’s a very proud thing to say that I have friends in over 30 different countries. They help me learn about the different cultures and norms across different areas of the world and encourage me to always try something new."

BISS was delighted to welcome England and Liverpool football legend, Emile Heskey, to the school. Inviting students for a unique football camp experience, the event was organised as a collaboration between Nord Anglia Education, Liverpool FC and its sponsors, Standard Chartered Bank.

The time had come for our BISS student athletes to showcase their talents in the 2025 Primary FOBISIA Friendly Games. Flagbearers, William Eagle Wang and Lucy Coffin, led us into the stadium under the scorching 34-degree weather with high humidity. Day 1 commenced with athletics and swimming.

BISS film students receive this unique opportunity with the top film producer after winning the Nord Anglia Global Campus Film Festival Competition. This competition involved 960 students from 22 Nord Anglia schools worldwide.

Earlier this year, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Orlando, Florida, to participate in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference (NLC) - an experience that challenged, inspired and rewarded me in unforgettable ways. From the Shanghai Regional Round to the Chengdu National Round, and finally, just a week ago, the Orlando Global Round, our BPA journey over the past six months has been unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.

In a world where art often serves as a mirror to society's most pressing issues, Julia, a remarkable Year 12 Visual Art student, has taken a bold step to shine a light on a cause close to her heart. Her latest exhibition, titled To See the Unseen, was on display this weekend at the vibrant M50 art district, showcasing her captivating paintings alongside the work of a group of talented artists

On Saturday 9 May, students from our three Nord Anglia schools in Shanghai - NAIS Pudong, BISS Puxi and NACIS - came together for a one-day STEAM Bootcamp, hosted at BISS Puxi. It was a brilliant opportunity for students in Years 7–9 to connect across campuses, take on hands-on challenges, and apply their creativity and problem-solving skills in exciting, real-world contexts.

AI is revolutionising education. And at BISS Puxi, we’re embracing the benefits. Used effectively, educational AI tools can create immersive, innovative, and truly personalised learning experiences for our students. They can also streamline administrative processes, freeing our outstanding teachers to focus on what really matters – inspiring creativity and critical thinking in our classrooms.

The team set off to Chengdu to compete in the first NAE Multisports games since 2019. Twenty-one boys and girls, from Years 4 and 5 were looking forward to competing in a two-day tournament of athletics and football. For most of these students, this was their first sports tour and there was a great deal of excitement, sprinkled with a touch of nervousness.

"One of the things we valued most about BISS when deciding on Logan’s enrollment was the school’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities to all prospective students. Initially, we worried about potential gaps between students and even felt anxious about Logan’s own shortcomings. But in the end, with the teachers’ support and encouragement, he has grown step by step with sincerity."

As our Year 13 students prepare for IB exams, they continue to receive exciting university offers from around the world. New additions to our list include renowned institutions such as New York University (Shanghai and New York), Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Italy), and McGill University (Canada). Students applying to the United States have earned acceptances from respected universities like New York University, Tufts University, University of Southern California and University of California San Diego.

"We were talking about how much we'd pay to relive a week back here, and the amount was high." BISS alumni and friends, Kirsty and Kirsten, visited school and toured the campus while reminiscing about their experiences here.

This year’s British Science Week at BISS was a resounding success, filled with student-led activities that brought science to life in the most engaging and interactive ways. Under the theme of ‘Change’ and ‘Adaptation’, students explored how science evolves to solve global challenges by taking part in a variety of hands-on experiments, competitive quizzes, and thought-provoking discussions.

School trips are always an exciting opportunity for young minds to expand their horizons beyond the classroom, and our Year 5 students recently embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. This excursion provided an immersive learning experience about the past, present and future of Shanghai while introducing students to the concept of sustainable urban development.

Twenty of our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh IA participants - eight Bronze and twelve Silver students - embarked on their practice Adventurous Journey to Chongming Island. Over two days, the students cycled an impressive 89km, developing resilience, teamwork and independence along the way.

The British International School Shanghai, Puxi, opened its brand new Golf Training Centre: a state-of-the-art facility featuring two hitting bays installed with the latest Garmin R50 simulators, and a large putting green for children to practise. Principal Andrew Lancaster gave an opening speech, followed by a session with Pro. Jovick Lee (PGA coach), who gave the children a lecture on using the cutting-edge equipment, sparking excitement among budding golfers.

The BISS Lions Women’s Basketball team showed heart, resilience, and an unbreakable team spirit at the 2025 ACAMIS Basketball Red Division Tournament in Suzhou from 13-15 February. Facing tough competition from Renaissance College, Chinese International School, Dulwich College Beijing, Dulwich College Shanghai, and Suzhou Singapore International School, the Lions demonstrated grit in every game.

BISS student, Florencia, has been recognised by IMG Academy for her incredible sportsmanship and skill in volleyball, earning her a summer scholarship to Florida.

Over the past week, BISS students in Tanzania have been engaging in meaningful activities, exploring the culture and contributing to the local community.
