Earlier this year, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Orlando, Florida, to participate in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference (NLC) - an experience that challenged, inspired and rewarded me in unforgettable ways. From the Shanghai Regional Round to the Chengdu National Round, and finally, just a week ago, the Orlando Global Round, our BPA journey over the past six months has been unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.

It was a brilliant opportunity for students in Years 7–9 to connect across campuses, take on hands-on challenges, and apply their creativity and problem-solving skills in exciting, real-world contexts.

The team set off to Chengdu to compete in the first NAE Multisports games since 2019. Twenty-one boys and girls, from Years 4 and 5 were looking forward to competing in a two-day tournament of athletics and football. For most of these students, this was their first sports tour and there was a great deal of excitement, sprinkled with a touch of nervousness.

New additions to our list include renowned institutions such as New York University (Shanghai and New York), Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Italy), and McGill University (Canada). Students applying to the United States have earned acceptances from respected universities like New York University, Tufts University, University of Southern California and University of California San Diego.

This year’s British Science Week at BISS was a resounding success, filled with student-led activities that brought science to life in the most engaging and interactive ways. Under the theme of ‘Change’ and ‘Adaptation’, students explored how science evolves to solve global challenges by taking part in a variety of hands-on experiments, competitive quizzes, and thought-provoking discussions.

Twenty of our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh IA participants - eight Bronze and twelve Silver students - embarked on their practice Adventurous Journey to Chongming Island. Over two days, the students cycled an impressive 89km, developing resilience, teamwork and independence along the way.

The British International School Shanghai, Puxi, opened its brand new Golf Training Centre: a state-of-the-art facility featuring two hitting bays installed with the latest Garmin R50 simulators, and a large putting green for children to practise. Principal Andrew Lancaster gave an opening speech, followed by a session with Pro. Jovick Lee (PGA coach), who gave the children a lecture on using the cutting-edge equipment, sparking excitement among budding golfers.

The BISS Lions Women’s Basketball team showed heart, resilience, and an unbreakable team spirit at the 2025 ACAMIS Basketball Red Division Tournament in Suzhou from 13-15 February. Facing tough competition from Renaissance College, Chinese International School, Dulwich College Beijing, Dulwich College Shanghai, and Suzhou Singapore International School, the Lions demonstrated grit in every game.
