U19 Football - GISSA Cup Champions!

Following comprehensive wins against BASIS and ISA in the opening round and semi-final, the BSG Rhinos once again faced the AISG Rams in the inaugural GISSA Cup Final.

After racing into a two-goal advantage, the Rhinos were pegged back by their rivals, who equalized in the final minute, to send the game into extra time. Last ditch challenges, goal mouth scrambles and lung busting runs where aplenty, as both sides gave everything to win as the dreaded penalty shootout loomed.

However, with only moments remaining, a mesmerizing solo run from Ethan Liang resulted in the BSG midfielder unleashing a stunning left footed shot into the top corner, sparking wild celebrations as the Rhinos emerged victorious via the golden goal rule.

The victory sealed the Rhinos cup double, following their heroics in last weeks’ divisional final, capping a memorable first season together as a team.

“This was by far, the best school final I have ever seen, it had everything. Moments like this don’t happen very often and the boys will remember it for a long time!” said Mr. Magson. “I am immensely proud of this group of young men. Their attitude has been outstanding all season. They are a credit to the school, their parents and most of all, themselves.”
