We Teach LAMDA @BSG!

We Teach LAMDA @BSG! - We Teach LAMDA1

At BSG, we are dedicated to providing top quality educational experiences for our students. LAMDA, which stands for London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, is a unique ASA offered to BSG students, with the option of paying to take an exam at the end of the program and earning a LAMDA qualification.

Last week, 16 brave students from years 4, 5 and 6 took their LAMDA Graded Examinations in Communication: Speaking Verse and Prose. 10 students took their Grade 1 exam, and 6 were attempting the Grade 2 exam. In addition to this, the Year 5 students performed their poems in assembly in front of a delighted audience including their peers and teachers.

The LAMDA Communication syllabus explains that the process of preparing for and succeeding in a LAMDA Examination helps learners, to develop a broad range of skills that will serve them throughout life. These examinations develop a earner’s ability to:

  • read easily, fluently and with good understanding
  • expand vocabulary to improve powers of self-expression
  • improve confidence in speaking and listening
  • memorise and recall information
  • research and create persuasive formal presentations
  • create and defend arguments
  • engage in constructive informal conversation
  • work both on their own and participate as a member of a team.

I am proud to be embarking on my 3rd term in offering LAMDA as an ASA to our students at BSG. This ASA program is designed to build and develop their natural abilities, using drama and English language skills. It helps enhance their self-confidence and encourages a love of literature and poetry.
