Anton brings a strong foundation of teaching and leadership experience, along with a passion for helping young people reach their full potential. Originally from the United Kingdom, he has spent the past eight years teaching Science in both the UK and China. During that time, he has taken on a variety of educational and leadership roles, building a rich and diverse range of experiences and developing a deep understanding of international and bilingual education.
Anton holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education (Biology) from the University of Warwick and a BSc (Hons) in Exercise and Sport Science from Manchester Metropolitan University. This blend of academic knowledge and hands-on classroom practice has given him a strong understanding of how pupils learn and how to create learning environments that are engaging, supportive, and challenging.
Throughout his career, Anton has taught Biology, Chemistry, and Physics across a broad range of ages and abilities. He used to serve as Deputy Head of Science, where he led curriculum development, supports colleagues through coaching and professional development, and worked closely with the team to uphold high academic standards. He is especially passionate about supporting bilingual and EAL learners, helping pupils develop their scientific understanding and confidence with English.
Beyond the classroom, Anton has extensive pastoral and leadership experience. As former Head of House, he played a crucial role in nurturing pupil wellbeing, building a strong sense of community, and creating opportunities for leadership and personal growth. He believes that positive, caring relationships are the heart of a great education, and he strives to create an environment where every pupil feels valued, supported, and inspired to do their best.
When he's not in school, Anton loves reading, listening to podcasts, learning Mandarin, and exploring Chinese culture. He also enjoys staying active through gym workouts and running. Having lived in Zhuhai for five years, he regularly visits other parts of China including Harbin, Qinghai, Shanghai, and beyond.
Anton is truly excited to join the British School of Guangzhou and become part of its warm, vibrant international community. He looks forward to working with pupils from diverse backgrounds, contributing fully to school life, and inspiring a lifelong love of learning. Through his experience, energy, and deep commitment to education, Anton hopes to help every pupil grow in confidence, achieve their personal goals, and realise their full potential.
