Ben is thrilled to be a part of The British School of Guangzhou as the Head of Computer Science. He has been living in China for three years, having recently moved from Fuzhou, Fujian. Prior to that, Ben spent three years in Thailand, residing and working in both Chiang Mai and Bangkok. He has also delivered Minecraft programming seminars in Dubai, showcasing his expertise in the field.

Before transitioning to international teaching, Ben spent fifteen years working in the Northwest of England. During this time, he had the opportunity to work with Edge Hill University, where he assisted in training undergraduates for the PGCE course. Ben found this experience fascinating and immensely rewarding, as he was able to inspire a new generation of teachers with his passion for Computer Science.

Ben's expertise extends beyond the classroom. He has collaborated with renowned organizations such as the BBC, contributing to the development of BBC Bitesize resources. He has also worked with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, helping to create robotics resources for the classroom. Additionally, Ben has been actively involved with Pycon UK, participating in their education forum where industry experts collaborate with teachers to teach coding through video games.

Ben has a passion for martial arts and has competed in various styles, achieving national titles, and even competing semi-professionally in mixed martial arts. He is also a qualified kayak instructor with a decade of experience in teaching white water skills. In his spare time, Ben enjoys programming and immersing himself in all things tech-related. However, he also appreciates cooking, watching movies, and traveling, finding balance between his nerdy pursuits and other interests.
