Year 3 Teacher
Bethan-Amena

Bethan is an enthusiastic educator with a passion for teaching and learning. She graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Social Policy from the University of Teesside in the UK back in 1997. Bethan's journey in the education sector began when she worked for Social Services in both the UK and Canada. After having her first child, Bethan embarked on a fulfilling path of volunteering in local schools while also working in the banking industry. Her involvement as part of the PTA and as a School Governor in a special needs school in the Vale of Evesham, UK, brought her immense joy in supporting her community and ignited her interest in education. Before moving to China, Bethan taught ESL and obtained her CELTA qualification from Gloucester College.

In 2018, she and her husband Darren, along with their two sons, relocated to Hangzhou as part of the founding team at a bilingual school. For three years, Bethan worked as a librarian, establishing an exciting events program and teaching phonics and library skills across the primary school. Driven by her passion for teaching, Bethan took on a new challenge in 2021/22 by joining the primary teaching team and obtaining her Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Cumbria. Her approach to teaching revolves around instilling a love of learning and reading in children, as she believes reading forms the foundation for a well-rounded education and overall success.

Currently, Bethan is part of the Year 3 team in Guangzhou, where she has embraced BSG and NAE family. In her free time, she indulges in her hobbies of reading, watching films, and traveling with her beloved family.
