Jonathan is an accomplished musician and educator originally from Middlesbrough, England. He holds a Jazz degree from Newcastle University and a Masters in Teaching and Learning with a specialization in music from University College London (UCL). With a deep passion for primary music education, Jonathan believes that all children should have the opportunity to explore and engage with music. Drawing from his combined experience in conservatories and primary settings, he skillfully scaffolds musical experiences for young learners, paving the way for their full musical potential to flourish in the future.

Jonathan has been based in London since 2008, where he has dedicated 15 years to teaching at CYM - Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During his time there, he served as the Head of Guitar. Additionally, he spent 12 years at St Joseph's Roman Catholic School in northwest London, where he established and led a successful music department from scratch. His department became a model for other schools in the area, and his students have showcased their talents at prestigious venues such as Wembley Arena, The Barbican, and The Royal Albert Hall.

Apart from his musical endeavors, Jonathan is an avid jazz guitarist, a passionate runner, and an aspiring mountain climber. His wide range of interests and experiences reflects his dedication to personal growth and a well-rounded lifestyle.

Jonathan is excited to join the dynamic team at The British School of Guangzhou, where he can bring his expertise and enthusiasm for music education to the students. With his extensive background and commitment to fostering a love for music, Jonathan is ready to make a positive impact on the school community and inspire the next generation of musicians.
