Mr Chairuka joins The British School of Guangzhou with a passion for mathematics education and a commitment to helping students develop confidence in their learning. Originally from Zimbabwe, Mr Chairuka has built an international teaching career that has taken him across Africa, Asia, and Europe, providing him with valuable experience working with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.

 

Mr Chairuka holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Changchun Institute of Technology and later completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through the University of Derby. His background in engineering allows him to bring real-world applications into the classroom, helping students understand how mathematics extends beyond textbooks and into everyday life.

 

Throughout his teaching career, Mr Chairuka has taught Mathematics, Physics, Science, and Engineering-related concepts in both international and British curriculum settings. He has experience teaching students across KS3, KS4, and KS5, including Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel International programmes.

 
His teaching approach focuses on making complex concepts accessible, encouraging curiosity, and creating a positive learning environment where all students can thrive. He is particularly passionate about helping students develop problem-solving skills and mathematical confidence that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
 

Students appreciate Mr Chairuka's supportive and approachable nature, as well as his ability to explain challenging topics in clear and practical ways. He believes that every student can succeed when provided with the right guidance, encouragement, and opportunities to develop resilience and confidence in their abilities.

 

Beyond the classroom, Mr Chairuka is passionate about basketball and once upon a time has served as a basketball coach. He enjoys helping students develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills through sport. In his free time, he also enjoys creative activities that allow him to explore different perspectives and express his appreciation for the world around him.

 

Mr Chairuka is excited to be part of the British School of Guangzhou community and looks forward to supporting students both academically and personally as they grow into confident, capable, and lifelong learners and learn Chinese.
