With over 9 years of international teaching experience, Michael has worked in both British and American curriculum schools, giving him a good insight into the expectations and requirements of both UK and US universities. His experience of teaching within China helps him create an inclusive and supportive classroom, in which students are encouraged to take risks and try their best.
Michael graduated with a masters of physics from a UK university, during which time his love for teaching really shone through. Whether it was helping his peers understand concepts learnt during the week's lectures, answering questions and explaining the physics behind Brain Cox's documentaries to his older brother, or spending an afternoon or two each week volunteering at a local high school, he enjoyed every opportunity that came his way. The joy of seeing something click or a connection being made led Michael to pursue a career in teaching.
Outside of the classroom, Michael can be found exploring Guangzhou and the local area, whether in a museum, walking through the old town or driving around the hills and mountains. If he's not found exploring, he will be deep in a travel book or reading up about past cultures.
