Kat is an enthusiastic mathematics teacher with five years of experience in UK secondary schools. Her academic journey started at the University of Nottingham, where she completed a Master's degree in Theoretical Physics. It was during this time that Kat had an interesting realisation about herself: she understood physics through maths. The fascinating quantum mechanics, the awe-inspiring astrophysics, the intricate computing projects were all underpinned by the beautiful structure and logic of mathematics. This insight, along with Kat's love for mathematical thinking, shaped her decision to pursue teaching, leading her to complete a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, also at Nottingham.
Kat brings a calm, structured approach to the classroom, focusing on supporting students as they build confidence step by step. She strives to make complex ideas feel accessible and take joy in helping others appreciate the subject.
Outside the classroom, Kat is passionate about languages. Originally from Russia, she has had a lifelong relationship with language learning. She has studied Mandarin for several years, and her interest in Chinese language and culture has been a meaningful part of her life. This personal connection inspired her move to Guangzhou, where she is excited to join BSG and contribute to its vibrant, international community.
