Football Key Stage 3 against Wellspring What we cannot look at from this game is the score line as it did not reflect the effort of the team and the individual performance.

The boys suffered a hefty loss for their first game, being defeated 0 - 11 against a very experienced Wellspring team.

The game started really well and BVIS were playing some excellent football and passing the ball around. Out of nowhere, a superb strike from a Wellspring player put them 1 goal ahead. At this point, the boys’ heads went down and the standard of football deteriorated. At half time the score stood at BVIS 0 – WIS 3. The second half started like the first, very positively but as time went on poor fitness started to impact the game.  In the second half, we had some good chances but were unable to find the back of the net.

What we cannot look at from this game is the score line as it did not reflect the effort of the team and the individual performance. The determination and passion of Quang Anh in defence was outstanding and Van Nguyen made some amazing saves and prevented the score line increasing.

Understandably, the students were disheartened by this result but as a team the students will bounce back from this game, taking the positives and learning from them. Every student showed potential but I think this game is a good indication of how important fitness is in sport and training.  Students must attend training every week and work on improving their fitness in their own time. We have many more game this season and as a team we can only get fitter, more skilful and more knowledgeable about the game.
