James has been teaching since 2011. He has taught in the UK, and at international schools in Shanghai, China, and Switzerland. Since joining BVIS in 2020, he has taught both Art & Design and STEAM. Prior to his teaching career, James worked as an assistant art director in Hong Kong.
A career highlight for James was leading a STEAM project that built a probe to film Earth from space, showcasing his passion for integrating art with science and technology. He is also an avid travel photographer, with one of his most memorable adventures flying a small aircraft across the Arizona desert.
James is dedicated to fostering creativity and problem-solving in his students. He finds teaching Art & Design/STEAM inspiring and is proud to work with the talented children at BVIS. His teaching philosophy is captured by Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote: “A great teacher makes hard things easy.”
