Assistant Head of Primary
BA (hons), PGCE
I trained and qualified as a Primary School teacher from Trinity College, Carmarthen, University of Wales. Initially I worked in Key Stage 2 at a Junior school in South London. During my 9 years in London, I had the opportunity to lead year group teams, develop numeracy and ICT programmes and undertook action research projects on reading development. I got married in 2001 and decided to follow my dream of teaching overseas and moved to Garden International School in Kuala Lumpur to join their Senior Leadership Team.

Year 1 Teacher
I graduated from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 2014. I taught English for 2 years in Secondary School and then moved to China in 2016. This is my fifth teaching year in China. I taught Pre-Kindergarten at an International School in Guangzhou and am now a Year 1 teacher at BSG.
BSc, PGCE
I first qualified in Wales, completing my bachelor degree. I then moved to London where I completed my PGCE in Forensic Science and Biology. I have been teaching in London for four years and have taught children of all age groups in Primary school but mainly in Reception and Year 1.
Year 2 Teacher
BA (hons), ABCTE
After graduating from the University of South Carolina, I went on to study acting and drama at the Stella Adler Studio in New York. My experience there enhanced my desire to travel further a field and discover more of the incredible and diverse world we live in. I began this journey with a one-way ticket to Guangzhou, which I must confess, I knew little about at the time. Since arriving here I have completed my ABCTE (American Board of Certification of Teacher Excellence) qualification.
Year 2 Teacher & Learning Leader
Before beginning my degree, I spent a year working as a Teaching Assistant in Beijing. I had always wanted to be a teacher, but it was my year here that really affirmed my desire to work with, educate and inspire young minds. This was also where I developed my love of travelling! Upon returning to the UK, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of East Anglia before moving on to complete a PGCE at the same university.
Reception Teacher
After achieving my degree, I completed a CertTESOL course from Trinity College, London, before migrating to Guangzhou more than ten years ago. I worked in a trading company in Hong Kong as an accountant, and never thought I would be a teacher someday. Becoming a teacher has been like a calling for me and that’s when I joined BSG five years ago.
MA, PGCE
I have been teaching for 4 years in various International schools (Middle East and East Asia) and Australian Public Primary school. I have experience in ranges of year groups, however, mostly experienced in KS1. Majority of the children I taught had diverse cultural backgrounds, some were culturally sensitive and challenging to adapt to English / American education. Therefore, I had to personalise the learning contexts to ensure their culture was respected and inclusive at all times but also support them to be open-minded learners to other communities. Furthermore, I also had success in supporting students to become independent and responsible learners from young age.
BA, ACCA, IPGCE
I discovered my passion for teaching 12 years ago, at BSG, where my husband was a Science teacher, when my two sons were in year 1 and pre-nursery. I became immersed in their early education through my involvement with the school as a parent-representative and volunteer. Learning from, and being supported by, a team of dedicated, caring, and passionate teachers ensured my sons were always excited to go to school. My time as a volunteer at BSG gave me the fulfilment lacking in my original profession as an accountant; it sparked a personal desire to contribute to the development and shaping of young minds.
